Topic: What I do with Web2.0!

Presenter: Jess McCulloch

Synopsis:  Jess was an early uptaker and innovator in the use of web2.0 tools in her LOTE (Language Other Than English) classroom. She will talk about and demonstrate her favourite tools, explain how she has used them in general for personal networking and give some ideas for classroom projects.

About Jess: Jess has been using web2.0 tools since 2006 and has created several popular blogs, including Technolanguages In 2008, Jess received teacher professional leave to further study the effective use of web2.0 tools in the classroom. She currently has a new role at the Chinese Teacher Training Centre at Melbourne Uni, where Jess runs ICT workshops for teachers.

Topic Synopsis: What is global collaboration and how can we use Web 2.0 tools to implement this into our curriculum to ‘flatten’ your classroom? Join Julie Lindsay  and Vicki Davis  (coolcat teacher)will share Flat Classroom pedagogy, how to get started and opportunities to connect globally.

About  Julie Lindsay:  MA Music (La Trobe University in Melbourne), MA Educational Technology Leadership (George Washington University in Washington, DC), ADE (Apple Distinguished Educator), Member of Horizon Report Board of Advisors 2008-2010, ISTE Ambassador, co-founder of Flat Classroom Projects, Conference and Events. Currently E-Learning Coordinator at Beijing (BISS) International School, China, Julie is an enthusiastic, global-minded education leader and innovator. Originally from Melbourne, Australia over the past 13 years she has been teaching and leading the use of technology in schools in Zambia, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Qatar and now China.

Julie is also co-winner with Vicki Davis of ISTE’s SIGTEL’s Online Learning Award 2007 and Taking IT Global Best Online Learning Project 2007 for the Flat Classroom Project. She is a frequent presenter on the world stage, she is a tireless volunteer leader for professional associations and an inspiration to colleagues and collaborators demonstrating just how different world-class education will be in this 21st Century. About Vicki Davis: Vicki blogs at the Cool Cat Teacher blog which won several Edublog Awards for Best Teacher Blog and many other awards. She was named a pioneer in Open Source Virtual World Technology in October 2009. Vicki is a Google Certified Teacher and Discovery S.T.A.R. Educator. Vicki is also a writer and conference presenter. She lives in Camilla, Georgia where she is a full time high school teacher, wife, and mother of three.
