About this session: HOT on the heels of planking, ‘teapotting’ is the newest internet craze to take off across the country. Students at  Mortlake P12 College;, a small country school in SW Victoria, Australia  ”invent their own internet craze using facebook and learn some salient lessons about social media, social responsibility and mainstream media moral panics along the way” (abc country radio).

et@lking: Living Digital Citizenship in a Virtual World

When:- Wed, June 8th 8 -9pm, Melbourne, Australia time (gmt+10)

About this session: An impressive line-up of Australia’s top innovative educators will share with us, as part of a panel, on this essential topic of Digital Citizenship. Dr  Bronwyn Stuckey  (of Quest Atlantis fame) together with Joanna Kay, Dean Groom, Judy O’Connell, Kerry Johnson (all members of Massively Productive) .

What better way is there to learn about and exercise citizenship than to be part of a community. In this session we will explore how virtual worlds allow students to of all ages to experience digital citizenship, leadership, personal responsibility and personal agency. We will explore environments where learners as young as 4 and 5 through to young adults are building community, developing norms and personal identity. We will take a look at Quest Atlantis, Minecraft, World of Warcraft, JokaydiaGRID.
